Hyundai's Genesis Coupe was named a Best New Car in About.com Cars' annual Best New Cars List for 2010. This marks the second year in a row that Hyundai has earned a place on the esteemed list as the Genesis sedan was recognized in 2009.
"If you're looking at cars like the Nissan 370Z, Ford Mustang, Chevy Cobalt SS or Volkswagen GTI, you'll definitely want to test drive the Genesis Coupe," said Aaron Gold, About.com Cars journalist. "It's not better, it's not worse -- it's just different. Although, in the case of the Genesis coupe, different is better."
According to Gold, "There's nothing quite like the Genesis Coupe. It features a choice of 200+ hp turbo four-cylinder, like a Volkswagen GTI, or 300+ hp V6, like a Chevy Camaro; optional track-tuned suspension, like a Colbalt SS; high-end amenities, like an Infiniti G37; and a $23k-to-$32k price range, like a Honda Accord Coupe. It uses rear-wheel-drive, like a Nissan 370Z, and runs on cheap 87-octane gas, like a Honda Fit."
"Genesis Coupe is the most exciting performance car ever developed by Hyundai and offers perfect rear-wheel drive vehicle dynamics at an unbeatable value," said Derek Joyce, Genesis Coupe product manager, Hyundai Motor America. "We are thrilled to receive this recognition from About.com Cars, as it further communicates Hyundai's commitment to producing vehicles that provide both high quality and exciting performance, offerings we look to further enhance heading into 2010."

One year after promising to become the leading manufacturer in fuel economy, Hyundai delivered by topping the latest U.S. Environmental Protection Agency fuel economy report. Hyundai passed all major manufacturers in Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) including traditional leaders like Honda and Toyota. The report demonstrates the effectiveness of Hyundai's value-driven fuel-efficiency strategy, which focuses on the intelligent application of cost-effective technologies. The report also substantiates Hyundai's leadership in the race to achieve the government-mandated 2016 CAFE standard of 35.5 miles per gallon.
The EPA 2009 Light-Duty Automotive Technology and Fuel Economy Trends Report indicates that Hyundai has the highest MY 2009 laboratory 55/45 fuel economy with 30.1 miles per gallon (mpg). Hyundai is also the only automaker to top 30 mpg in the report.

"Our thoughtful application of cost-effective, fuel-efficient technologies has helped us achieve our goal of leading the industry in fuel economy ahead of schedule," said John Krafcik, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. "Now we hope to extend that leadership with the launch of our new direct injection, turbocharging and lithium-polymer hybrid technologies, all of which will be a part of the 2011 Sonata lineup launching early next year."
